Summary: Tape 3
Comment: The tape show several combinations. The way the strikes are thrown resembles tai kickboxing in that they are thrown will full power and do not snap back. The strikes are also, for the most part circular. The style only throws strikes at hard targets such as hand mitts or kicking shields. The quality of what is shown is good. I would have like to have seen more variety on the tape instead numberous repetitions of the same technique. Master Koo does give some verbal instructions on the first combination, but does not give an explanation of the kicking combination. There are also two short testimonials from Master Koos students at the end of the tape. In sum, I like what is being taught my only criticism is that I would have liked to seen more included in the tape. I learned about the tapes through the Koo Self Defense website which as some interesting information on it about realism in maritial arts techniques and training methods.

Summary: Koo Self Defense Tape 3
Comment: I purchased this and another Koo Self Defense Video after being impressed with some of the information covered on the website. First, after watching the video I would like to say that the content was good and quality was good, but the quantity of content could have been more. Two combinations were shown: one with punches, elbows, headbutts, and knees, the other which consisted of a three front kicks with two knees. Koo students throw strikes with full power and always hit a hard target be it mitts or shield. The strikes are circular, for the most part. Koo self defense most resembles boxing or rather Tai Boxing to the extent that its strikes are thrown with power and do not snap back. The kick shown resembles a Tai push kick or front thrust kick, but it is launched from the rear leg. For those who aren't familiar with a tai push kick, it is a front kick thrown off the front leg where the practicioner hops forward with the kick as it is thrown. A couple of Master Koo's students give short testimonials at the end of the tape. Check the site out for yourself and let me know what you think.
