Customer Rating: Summary: Good bike for the price Comment: I needed an exercise machine that would allow me to sit down because I work on my feet and couldn't stand the thought of having to exercise standing up. I also have a bad back and needed something with back support, as well. I did some researching and found that recumbent bikes were recommended on various websites over traditional bikes. After about a month, I decided to get this model because it had fairly good reviews and a decent price.
Amazon delivered it quickly despite me using Super Saver Shipping. The box DOES weigh over 70 pounds so I recommend having someone help you to take it its permanent location. I am not very handy with tools but I managed to put it together, no problem, but took me awhile because I was working alone. Like most reviewers, I had trouble with the tension cable but still managed to get it connected.
Directions included in the box is inaccurate in the hardware count, so don't worry if it seems you end up with less screws, washers, and nuts than printed. The box includes an Allen wrench with a Philips screwdriver on the opposite tip, too. The only problem with hardware I had was with the seat base - it's connected to the main frame with long bolts and two aircraft nuts. The nuts are stopped with a hard plastic at the end so you can only screw it in up to a certain point with your hands, so the seat ends up a bit wobbly. It can be fixed, probably, with plain nuts and two wrenches (one to hold the bolt and the other to screw), but right now I'm using it as is. I took the advice of other reviewers and left out the side handlebars as it took up too much space.
The computer isn't accurate when it comes to calories burned, because you need to factor in weight into the equation. However, if you note your constant speed and time, you can calculate calories burned through websites such as caloriesperhour.com.
The bike is extremely quiet and is worth for that alone! You can read, listen to music, or watch TV while working out without having to hear the horrific grinding noise of some stationary bikes on the market. However, the seat itself isn't comfortably padded so I recommend putting a pillow or cushion on it when using it long-term.
The bike is good for low to moderate exercisers, but the tension doesn't go high enough for anyone looking for an extremely hard workout. But for me it's perfect, and I'm happy with my purchase.
Customer Rating: Summary: recumbent bike Comment: the bike works very well it is much better for my legs than running.
Customer Rating: Summary: A good product for the price Comment: This recumbent bike serves my needs very nicely. I am in physical therapy after back surgery and needed a way to exercise. But I didn't want to buy a high-priced bike that I may end up not using after awhile. This bike is well made, sturdy, the seat is comfortable, and I think it will last for years. I'm not sure I would recommend it for a large man, but other than that it's a great bike. I looked at a couple of recumbent bikes in the same price range at Sears today and the Marcy bike is far better! And as usual I have always had good service and on-time delivery from Amazon.
Customer Rating: Summary: just ok Comment: it was a little frustrating putting it together, ok quality,if you are looking for something that will do the work and don't want to spend a lot.
Customer Rating: Summary: A good product for a good price Comment: I really like this bike. I like that it shows me how fast I'm going, calories spent, distance, and time. It runs smoothly and makes very little noise. It was sort of easy to put together. The only thing I don't like about the Marcy is that the backrest jiggles, and I can't seem to tighten it up, but that could be my fault. That jiggling doesn't affect the bike's performance at all. It showed up at my door almost instantly! I am a Prime member so I get orders within 2 days, but this recumbent bike was here in 1 and 1/2 days.
