Customer Rating: Summary: Must have for Bowflex SelectTech Weights Comment: This stand is the perfect height for average person to "lift off" the dumbbells. Not only that but the unique design lets you stand comfortably close to the weights so you can lift them off the stand with your legs... not your back!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great product! Comment: Makes working out much easier because you don't have to bend to pick up the weights.
Customer Rating: Summary: Bowflex Dumbbell stand Comment: The Bowflex SelectTech 552/1090 dumbbell stand is great. Very sturdy and easy to put together. The dumbbells fit perfectly on the stand and the wheels make it easy to move. Very pleased.
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent, possibly new instructions? Comment: I admit it, my biggest reason for having concern about buying this stand, was the concern of putting it together. Not that I have trouble in general, putting thing together, but because I had a lot of reviews, not just here, but on a few sports store websites as well, that said the instructions are horrible and that this stand is very hard to put together.
I'm not for sure if they are now putting new instructions in with this stand, or if people just don't pay attention when putting something together. For anyone concerned about the stand's assembly, here is what came in the package.
3 different sized bolts, 1 size of flathead bolts/screws, each with the nut attached and 4 stacks of washers that work with any of the bolts.
That is it. What I did, I opened the blister pack of hardware and put each type of bolt together. That took about 1 minute, seeing that you can lay the 3 types of bolts beside each other and tell the difference in the longer ones.
Once I did this, one step uses the biggest bolts, all of them. One step uses the medium sized bolts, all of them and one step uses the smallest bolts, all of them. It is that simple. Even better, the instructions and order of assembly starts with the biggest bolts, then medium, then smallest. There is no way to screw that up since the smaller bolts are not long enough to fit the steps requiring the bigger ones.
The one thing I will note is though the allen key is included, be sure to have a pair of small vice-grips or 7/16 socket/adjustable wrench, to hold the nut in place while tightening the bolt.
The only part I found to be the least bit hard was putting the towel stand in. As we start working against gravity and not having enough hands, on this part. I had no idea there is a towel stand, it is the last step, and requires holding a curved bar under the dumbbell holders, while inserting 4 flat head bolts. Still, after a few times of dropping the bolts, you will get it right.
The stand isn't exactly like that one pictured. The one pictured has more of satin silver color to it, but this one has more of a matte gray color, darker colored. Not a big deal, as it really works nicely for what it is supposed to do.
Total time of assembly 45 minutes, included removing everything from box. Just follow those directions and you won't have a bit of problems. One last note, it does include straps to hold the dumbbells down, so if you buy the dumbbells too, don't worry about cutting the shipping restraints, that look just like the straps in the pictures I've seen with the dumbbells on the stand.
Great product so far.
Customer Rating: Summary: A Workout Before my Workout... Comment: Once you get this stand together, it's great--looks good and is the perfect height for the 552 SelectTechs.
But boy, is it a pain to put together! The included allen wrench and hex wrenches are very cheap and make it difficult to put any serious torque on the screws. And yes, some of the holes were drilled just a little bit off-center, so it takes some muscle to tighten them. I busted my knuckles a few times, but got a great workout before I had a chance to use the dumbbells.
