Summary: Wonderfully valuable
Comment: My sister, cousin, current partner and a previous partner are all survivors of rape. My current partner and I are reading this book together and working through the things it recommends. We have found it to be really valuable. It is a great place to start.
If you are a rape survivor or someone close to one, good luck and much love to you.

Summary: Still the most useful book
Comment: As I guessed, I did wear out my first copy as mentioned before. Linda's book is just so very good.If you, like myself have been raped, please consider this book to read. This one for me is certainly my new bible now. I have just re-ordered this also. My very battered original,I have now donated to a local Rape Crisis Centre, and I'm told has already been borrowed.
This book is one of many in my collection, but this is by far the most useful and very well read.

Summary: Outstanding
Comment: Outstanding is what I call this book. I was gang raped on the 4th of February and this book is by far the best in my growing collection. Linda covers everything and makes it all so simple to digest. Her references are very very accurate and I have read this book over and over, and sometimes simply re-read sections only. I have even found the strength to take this book with me on my commute to work by train and it is quite amazing the type of reactions you get. Some women have offered sympathy and some have actually mentioned that they too have been there. This revellation was of great benefit to my recovering, and the power of the cover of Linda's book, or couse speaks volumes. The men on the trains I use, once they have taken note of the book cover usually tend to give me lots of elbow space, which is nice.
This book is really a MUST HAVE for any woman who has endured being raped. This book I cherish and soon hope to find it in hardcover as I am fast wearing this softcover one down and out.
Linda...you have helped me more than you will ever know. Thank You!

Summary: A very good book, with sound practical advice
Comment: As the partner of a rape survivor, I wanted to know the type of thoughts that would be going on inside my girlfriends head after the event, and be able to help her as best I could. The book gave sound advice, including the types of responses and emotions that my partner might go through, and the likely timescales of when those emotions could surface. It also discussed the different routes her recovery might take, and how the event may affect our own relationship. There was also practical advice on health issues which was very welcome. Aside from a view by the author which seemed to suggest that "all men are bastards" which I could live with but didnt welcome, I found this a very very useful book and would strongly recommend it to others in our situation.

Summary: An "ok" book.
Comment: My girlfriend is a rape victim and I was looking for a book that could help me help her, understand her, without me going insane--it's very tough :(
I kind of liked the book (that's why 3 stars), but it lacks information that focuses on "friends, family and loved ones." Granted, each little topic has a small section for such people, but it's not enough.
If you're looking for an [I'm the partner of a rape victim and want to know what to do and how to react from a psychological, intimate, and love/affection point of view] book, then this one is clearly not what you're looking for.
