Summary: Emotionally gripping, uplifting and yes, funny!
Comment: My wife too had breast cancer. Like the author of this fine book I so needed to come to grips with the acute issues facing my wife and family but also needed to deal with the 'sub acute areas.' The acute being surgery and chemo but the sub acute being dealing with my young daughters, being able to afford the right treatments, not getting fired, not crawling into a bottle and yes, sex.
If I asked anyone for insight into the sexual consequences of the disease they would have thought me a shallow piece of garbage. I LOVE MY WIFE....BUT STILL WANTED TO KNOW HOW SURGERY AND CHEMO WOULD IMPACT OUR SEX LIFE! But for this powerful book I never would have had the nerve to go public with these thoughts.
To lighten the subject, Mark wrote a chapter of some of the stupidest things that people said to him to cheer him up. I laughed in bed while reading it....gave it to my wife who laughed as well. This laughter came while she was undergoing chemo and not laughing at much else.
I strongly recommend this book to anyone dealing with adversity in their lives.
