Summary: Beware of potentially fraudulent activity here.
Comment: Difficult to believe? Try imposssible! Of course AA World Services has not authorized this publication. Visit their website. Apparently Benai Noaj, after a few minutes googling, is publishing a wide variety of books whose copyrights have lapsed into the public domain. Other publishers do this of course. A typical example would include Barnes & Noble editions of classic literature. But in this case, for some reason, Benai Noaj has managed to attach"by AA services" to the description on Amazon.com giving the impression this is AA conference approved literature. And Amazon enhances this connection by offering the book alongside an approved publication when they market them in their "Buy Together Today" marketing campaign. I think this is a sad development and that Amazon has a resposibility to its customers to let them know the difference. The 4th Edition after all has 456 pages while this publication has 188. In the US according to Amazon's own reported sales rankings this sleight of hand is resulting in this "book" outselling the real book in some categories. I think it would be nice if Amazon would do the right thing and make the difference clear. But I am realistic and where there is money to be made apparently their out to make it. I've cancelled my Prime membership and am buying my books elsewhere until they change their tune. I suggest others do the same until they change their marketing practices. Believe me if enough of us do that, they will be looking for lost revenue for there are enough of us to be a major economic force. And then perhaps they will be clear in their advertising practices and publications like this and Benai Noaj can slither back under the rock from whence he came.

Summary: Fake & fraudulent "work"
Comment: Well folks... I bought two copies of this book, in good faith, because of the mentioning of "AA Services" as author.

Shouldn't have bothered, and should've known better. This book is just a pathetic (and obviously & unfortunately a successful) attempt for some third party (one single person?) to make money off Alcoholics Anonymous' lifesaving message.

'Nough said if I tell you that the book starts with "forward", not "foreword"...?

I rest my case, and am sorry to have contributed to watering down the real thing and thus benefitting Ed. Benei Noaj...whoever or whatever that is....?

Do yourself and alcoholics around the world a favour and stick to the real thing.

Summary: Suspect edition
Comment: This is a very strange and shoddy-looking edition of the 'AA Big Book'. It looks almost like a 'pirate' copy: as though someone has discovered that the original 1939 copyright has now expired and has hastily brought out their own version.

The editing of the 'new personal histories' is sensationalist, with screaming headlines at the beginning of many paragraphs. The typeface and layout look like desktop publishing.

At the front of the book it says 'Printed in the USA' but in the back of my copy it says 'Printed in the United Kingdom by Lightning Source UK Ltd'. The 2006 copyright holder is listed as 'Ed. Benei Noaj'. Amazon also lists 'Editorial Benei Noaj' as the publisher. Suspicious, to say the least. What on earth is 'Benei Noaj'?

It is difficult to believe that this edition has been authorized by AA World Services. The AA Big Book is a vital and lifesaving work. Make sure you get a genuine copy.
