Customer Rating: Summary: Good workout but bad sound Comment: I couldn't quite decide whether to give this 3 or 4 stars. The workout itself is good, it's challenging and you feel it really working your muscles. The floor exercises are good, particularly as they make sure that you maintain a proper posture, which would be difficult (unless you are a trained dancer) if you were doing the same exercises standing up. My complaint is the sound. The music is redundant, as it is just put on over the top afterwards, so when there are sequences of steps you have to try and block out the music, otherwise it's hard to follow. This is most noticeable in the extra dance sequence, the narrator says 'feel the music', but you really can't because it bears no relation to what the dancers are doing, otherwise the dance would be quite fun.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Stuff! Comment: I finally had a go with this workout. As a dance teacher I found this is the best currently in the market. It might be difficult to follow at the beginning, but after a few times exercises u can catch up. Steady warm up,is the best ad I have found. Altough some of the part could be difficult and might hurt a bit if u haven't been work out for some time, like me. I just had 2 pregnencies and looking for every method to go back to fit until I found this one.
No suitable for begginers but can be used as an advanced follow up exercise. Really good! NO need for the gym afterwards.
Customer Rating: Summary: Brilliant toning workout Comment: I bought this dvd as i fancied something a bit more graceful but with lots of toning. Well it certainly does both of these. Having only done the workout a few times i already feel a difference especially in the legs and shoulders. It is surprising how much you feel your muscles by just standing in the correct posture. Have not been able to do much of the movement section as i have do not have enough room. I prefer the classical music, but to have a choice is fantastic. I can't praise this dvd enough, and receommend anyone to give it a go and you quickly realise how fit ballet dancers are!
Customer Rating: Summary: You'll feel this the next day :-) Comment: I got this DVD a few weeks ago, and after doing the exercises 4 times a week for a month, I can definitely say I can see results! The ab section really hurts, and you will moan out really loud while you're doing it, but you will get results fast. I've never been one for ab exercises, always preferring to focus on my legs and bum, but this workout makes me go with the flow and just do all the exercises, at the end of it all you feel as if you've really achieved something. And it may all look simple and easy, but after the first time I did the video I was sore for a week!
Customer Rating: Summary: Exhausting but worth it Comment: This is a serious deep muscle workout that will challenge anyone at any fitness level. The abdominal work is particularly demanding and does require a certain level of fitness before attempting it or neck and shoulder strain could result. You need to know your limitations and work within them, there is little or no modification advice given on the DVD so you have stay aware of what your body is telling you
However, I loved this DVD and I'm already enjoying the dramatic changes it's making to my shape and my stamina. Although there is no aeorobic component to the workout you can get that on a stationary bike or a treadmill at any gym. Treat yourself to bit of grace and peace as you get your stretches and resistance training. Well worth it.

New York City Ballet 2, like its bestselling predecessor, is still designed to sculpt and tone your body; but this second edition has also learned the lessons of the original routine, which was difficult to use for those without formal ballet training. This second workout attempts to be accessible to all, providing a glossary explaining ballet terminology and introducing such steps as Plies and Tendus. Be warned though, this will still take practise if you are new to ballet. The routine itself is also less demanding than the first, but includes one of the best abs workouts to be found on an exercise programme. While the steps do not offer a cardio workout, they are enjoyable once mastered and will make you feel more graceful. Combining ballet and yoga is all the rage at gyms, so a good tip is to tie this in with your favourite yoga programme for that ideal posture and definition. All in all this is a great improvement on the first edition and certainly more enjoyable than watching a Big Brother celebrity's dance routine. On the DVD: New York City Ballet 2 offers pristine images and a 5.1 Dolby sound. This works wonderfully on the choice of classical and contemporary tracks. There is also the option to develop your own routine, which is useful if you are never sure how much time you have spare to exercise. The DVD also offers a movement combination which slowly takes you through the steps to learn a dance sequence. --Nikki Disney
