Customer Rating: Summary: A fantastic slice of cricketing history! Comment: I thoroughly enjoyed this DVD. The snippets of historic events are presented in such a way that you get a comprehensive insight into what happened, without being overloaded by information. Each of these events is covered in far more detail elsewhere in numerous books and DVDs, should you wish to expore them further. Just about all the greatest moments in cricket that you've ever heard about are in here, covering all the great (and late) figures in this most English of sports.
What more could you want? You even get to hear David Gower sounding like he's speaking from inside a goldfish bowl - most amusing!
I implore you to don your Panama hat, prepare some cucumber sandwiches, and sit back for a couple of hours - its time well spent!
Customer Rating: Summary: A must for the cricket fan Comment: This is a realy enjoyable cricket retrospective. There are some true legends of cricket featured on this DVD & some of the archive footage is just fantastic. The old black & white stuff is a real treat but the whole thing is well put together & Gower does a very good job in taking us on an entertaining & informative trip through the history of cricket.
I am sure that there is something here for every cricket fan, whether it be Bradman,Botham or the legendary West Indies sides. Most cricket fans love the history of the game & can wallow in the nostalgia like pigs in muck, for those who do, this is a treat.
Only one complaint, there are parts of the DVD where the links featuring Gower are not of the highest sound quality but other than that, it's just superb.
Customer Rating: Summary: Gower chile Comment: I loved watching this DVD, but then realised it is identical in content
It's okay though as I'm going to send one to my dad in England for his birthday and I'll still be able to see players like Freddie Truman, Typhoon Tyson and the greatest batman of them all----the Babe Ruth of Cricket, Sir Donald Bradman. He's Australian by the way, so no tea and crumpets for him.
You also get to see Ian Botham, the closest thing to a lion you'll ever see playing cricket, and the mighty West Indies sides that included Gary Sobers, Clive Lloyd, Viv Richards and some incredible fast bowlers----like having two or three Roger Clemens (at his best) pitching for the same team. This is great history.
